Facebook causes...everything?

If you don’t think that online reputation management is important, you might want to reconsider. Take Facebook, for example. You know how typing in a search entry prompts suggestions from the search engine? Well, if you look up Facebook in Google, Yahoo and Bing, you might find that it’s the reason you got chickenpox in the fourth grade. More likely, however, is that Facebook caused your divorce. Seriously. Apparently, the social networking phenomenon is being accused of causing everything from non-profit donations to cancer, but the number-one most consistent suggestion is that Facebook causes divorce. Don’t believe it? Type in “Facebook causes” in any of the major search engines and see what the top suggestions are. (Keep in mind that suggestions merely indicate popular searches, not actual facts.)

While it may be amusing to check out Facebook conspiracies, it’s no joke if someone’s spreading rumors about your local business. So the real question is: do you know what your business is “causing?”
